What’s been up

As you may know, I moved to TOM 2 months ago. I actually miss Fukuoka, and will always call it my home away from home.
TOM home is a great place. The home members have been very accommodating and kind, making sure I adjust well and am not getting loss in the blur of everyday business. I am a Bible class/PE (what? YOU Ken?)/cooking teacher for the 9-16 year old group here and occasionally help out with the open house events for our friends and contacts. I’ve been cooking fairly often, and am just getting used to cooking for 20+ people. I’m also involved with childcare, computer work, and English teaching.
I haven’t had much time (haven’t MADE much time) lately for my writing projects, but I am writing a story for Yuya (14)’s birthday present. I will be publishing any new stories as I finish them.
In the past two months I have:
- Gone to OC camp as staff and participated in the skits
- Visited my grandparents in Osaka and had my Grandfather talk to me for 15 minutes straight about his digital thermometer:
- ben locked for nearly an hour in the shower room.
- dyed my hair, once with Daichi’s leftover hairdye in Fukuoka, and then here, with Yasu’s leftovers. But you can’t really tell unless there is good lighting
- begun to attend the in-house dancing lessons as a dance partner for the other students, which are mostly women over 40. I’m learning Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, and other dances from the Kamite sisters, who are great friends of mine.
- Gone to the cinema for the first time. Saw the new Star Trek, which was great! I’d reccomend it for anyone who is into that sort of thing.
- started a cooking club for the JTs in my home
- Learned a bit of guitar
- started working out
- written my first comedy-horror short story
- written and illustrated 2 kids books
- Gone to 2 job interviews.
And this year I will:
- Get part-time work
- Take the TOEIC
- Attend 2 seminars
- Attend FDTP
- start on the XD pre
- practice violin for Christmas
- finish 2 full length stories
You’ve read this far. Thanks, and good day.
